SINGAPORE The Lion City enhances its long-running reputation as the “Garden City” with the opening of Bay South Garden at Marina Bay on June 29.
Largest of the three gardens making up the Gardens by the Bay development, the 54-hectare attraction includes The Meadow, expected to be the biggest local outdoor venue with a capacity of up to 30,000 people. An alfresco facility for enormous groups is a feature that event planners said the destination has long lacked.
In the same vicinity is the Flower Dome Events Space, a glass enclosure with a Mediterranean theme, while 13 F&B spaces will dot the Gardens by the Bay. Six outlets will be operational at the time of the launch.
Other key feature of the complex include another glass dome, Cloud Forest, and 18 Supertrees, which are vertical gardens showcasing a variety of bromeliads, ferns and tropical flowering climbers. An aerial walkway will link of the Supertrees to enable visitors to view the Bay South Garden from a unique angle. There are also the Horticultural Themed Gardens and two lakes, Dragonfly Lake and Kingfisher Lake.
