SESSIONS on making the most of artificial-intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and whether social-media video formats like Douyin (TikTok) are efficient for marketing will be among the conference topics lined up at ITB China.
The opening-day panels at the three-day ITB China 2023 commencing September 12 at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Centre are set to see destination marketing feature strongly. Discussions will focus on leveraging mobile apps, the metaverse, virtual reality and other technology to share captivating stories.
Experts will tackle issues based around questions including “Since the past cannot be recreated, how should China’s outbound tourism market embrace the future?“ and “How can ChatGPT empower production innovation in the tourism industry?“.

Opening keynotes will be delivered by leaders from ITB China’s major partners including official partner hotel Wyndham Hotels and Resorts and travel-service partner Trip.com. Another keynote is due from Tourism Malaysia, which will underline the country’s commitment to a swift market recovery through extensive activity on the trade show floor, while also outlining strategies for the Chinese market.
The second day of the conference will cover Themed and Customised Travel and Hotel Tech and Distribution. An expert from Alibaba’s online travel platform Fliggy will present a keynote on building “future-oriented super brands/destinations” with a panel on maximising brand exposure across various distribution channels.

Business travel and MICE will dominate the third day with a key note by industry giant Trip.Biz followed by sessions on using virtual-event platforms, digital marketing solutions an innovative promotion channels. Rounding off the day will be discussions tackling environmental protection and social responsibility in business travel with sessions on reducing carbon emissions and sustainable community development.
ITB China organisers Messe Berlin are due to announce further sessions for the show’s Presentation Hub.
