Bike tours around Bangkok

BANGKOK Groups who want to explore the Thai capital in a different way may want to check out the "Colours of Bangkok – Bicycle Tour" organised by Focus Asia.

The four-to-five hour programme sees participants pedal their way around less visited attractions such as the city's green areas. It will also include visits to a local elementary school, a Burmese-built chedi (Buddhist term for "stupa"), an open-air Muay Thai school, a local sandal factory and a Buddhist temple complex. There will be an hourly rest time for well-deserved refreshments of Thai snacks. There is a short boat trip across the Chao Phraya River in a long-tailed boat thrown in as well.

"This tour  will allow you to escape the city to discover the true beauty of Bangkok," said Maya Caspary, sales manager of Focus Asia's sales office – Europe.

The "Join In Tour" experience runs daily from 8am to 1pm. Group size is between two and eight people. If numbers exceed, participants will be split into two or more groups. The tour is priced at THB1,700 (US$57 per person), which covers includes bicycle rent, Thai snack/meal, two long-tailed boat rides, water or softdrinks, insurance and round-trip transfers between a Bangkok city hotel and the meeting point. It also includes the services of an English-speaking guide.

Caspary told Mix that the tour is available for exclusive private booking where elements of the programmes can be tailor made to specific requests of clients. Rates for private tours are different from the regular ones.
