ASIA-BASED associations leader Octavia ‘Bobby’ Peralta is among the speakers lined up for IBTM World 2024 in Barcelona.
Peralta, the chief executive of the Philippine Council of Associations and Association Executives, will take to the stage on November 19, the first day of IBTM World, for the Association Leaders Forum.
The forum plans to address practical and strategic issues facing associations with a focus on the need to balance executive governance and risk management with innovation and adapting to global challenges.
About 130 association professionals are expected to attend the forum, which will also schedule networking opportunities.
Other speakers include Iapco chief executive Martin Boyle; European Society of Association Executives vice-president, Liesbeth Switten (who is also secretary general at AIB-Association of Issuing Bodies); Dianna Steinbach, senior vice-president, Institute of Management Accountants; Dennis Speet, managing director, Amsterdam Convention Bureau, and Cecilia Delgado Molina, executive secretary, International Sociological Association.
IBTM World 2024’s theme is People.Power.Potential and will explore how people power can be enhanced by harnessing new technologies. This includes integrating AI in associations’ strategic planning, using digital tools to make conferences and events more impactful, engaging and financially sustainable, while continuing the commitment to establish a greener future.

The forum will also seek solutions on preventing burnout, training team members to perform in an efficient and rewarding manner. It will also explore how associations can prepare for a year of significant electoral shifts and provide insights into how association leaders can guide members and staff in navigating the geopolitical environment.
“At IBTM World, we strive above all else to always provide genuine value, and tangible take-homes, for delegates,” said Claudia Hall, IBTM World exhibition director, said.
“This year’s forum does just that, supporting association professionals to build an association sector that is not only at the forefront of advancement, but which prospers because of it.”
Designed in partnership with the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE), and curated from the expertise of the organisation’s members, the forum has become an annual meeting point for association leaders to exchange ideas, learn, and advance knowledge and best practices in a peer-to-peer setting.
The forum is expecting about 130 association professionals. Interactive sessions will comprise panel discussions, debates, and case studies. There will also be networking breaks with peers.
