AMEX and Cvent rolls out expanded online meeting tools

HONG KONG American Express (AMEX) Meetings and Events has rolled out a web portal for its corporate clients.

The new feature launched last month consists, among others, of a centralised calendar; a Meeting Requestor tool to help automate meeting sourcing; and a Request History function that keeps a database of past meeting requests. The web portal has been customised by Cvent for AMEX.

Cvent, a leading meetings technology company which has been providing AMEX Meetings and Events access to its supplier network, is expected to deliver additional online tools and enhancements to the portal in the coming months.

"The Cvent enhancements are intended to drive adoption and efficiency in the planning and sourcing process, which can help control spend and provide insight into meeting activities," Danielle Puceta, vice-president and general manager, AMEX Meetings and Events – JAPA told Mix.

The new online resource brings more extensive capabilities to AMEX's Meetings Expert solution.

A key tool of the web portal is the meeting cost estimator, enabling the corporate client to itemise the budget for a planned meeting before a proposal is submitted. The cost estimator uses historical data to come up with the projected spending of the future event.

"The most important point is that cost savings is a strategic goal of any meetings managemnet programme. And we work with our clients to help them manage their meetings spend and gain insight into potential opportunities for savings," Puceta added.

AMEX Meetings and Events clients have exclusive access to this cost estimator feature for six months after the portal's launch last November.
