Ali the baby orangutan swings into ICCA 2016

The Borneo Orangutan Project is making its way to the Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings (IT&CM) China in Shanghai.

BOP is the official corporate social responsibility programme of the ICCA Congress 2016, which will be held in Kuching, Malaysia from November 13-16.

Sarawak Convention Bureau will be showcasing the official CSR programme of the ICCA Congress 2016, the Borneo Orangutan Project, at the Incentive Travel & Conventions, Meetings (IT&CM) exhibition in Shanghai from April 6-8.

Following successful launches of BOP at  EIBTM 2015, in Barcelona, and Aime 2016, in Melbourne, the Shanghai showcase will give one ICCA member the opportunity to adopt a baby orang-utan called Ali for one year.

Ali was rescued at the age of three with a severe stomach infection. Now fully recovered, he is journeying with his keepers on daily excursions into the jungle to prepare for his release into the semi-wild. Currently, Ali is being cared for at the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, a world-renowned research facility and nature reserve that has also rehabilitated and reintroduced many of these primates back to the forest.

The winner of the adoption scheme will be announced the week following IT&CM China, when ICCA will adopt Ali the orangutan on behalf of the chosen member.

IT&CM China attendees can visit the Malaysia Pavilion at Booth B11 to take a photo with “Brooke”, the official ICCA 2016 mascot.

Delegates are invited to share their photo on social media with the hashtag “#RoadtoSarawak” “#ITCMChina” and “#ICCAWorld”.
