A matter of style

BANGKOK Two-month-old Sofitel So Bangkok is not only adding to the city’s inventory of trendy, contemporary venues, but it is offering unique events spaces that are a cut above the rest. Each one has its own distinct interior and ambiance that sets the mood for a stylish event.

The 238-room hotel, located close to the business district and overlooking Lumpini Park, was built at the cost of ThB1.8 billion (US$58.09 million).

Already, some of the companies that have hosted events in the property include Exxon Mobil, Pfizer, Bayer Group and Baker & McKenzie, among others.

                                                         The Box

Suspended in mid-air on the 9th floor, The Box- which juts out of the building – features three walls of glass offering panoramas of the city below. Designed to be a place to see and be seen, this one-of-a- kind 50-sqm venue is ideal for hosting a VIP function of up to 30 people

                                                    Social Club

The Social Club on the 7th floor is inspired by a production house ambiance to provide an atelier for thinking and creativity in a loft-like setting that plays out around a pre-function area and an open-space kitchen, lounge and bar. Leading off from the Social Club are four meeting rooms that can be set up with a lot of flexibility.

                                            Sofitel So Bangkok's ballroom

The pillarless ballroom on the 8th floor is a modern interpretation of a Parisian opera house. The 380 sqm space can hold up to 350 people and delivers the goods as well in terms of the latest technology in acoustics, professional lighting and IT.

Creativity is not confined to the physical structure, however. The hotel events team are able to craft tailor-made experiences and can theme entire events – not only coffee breaks – around the five elements of water, earth, wood, metal and fire.
