Subsidies covering up to half of eligible expenses, with the maximum award reaching 30 million yen (about USD188,373)  for the largest conferences, are covered in the grant.

The grant scheme is administered by the Osaka International Conference Grant Executive Committee, comprising Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City and the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and forms part of a wider regional ambition to strengthen Osaka’s business and innovation competitiveness.

Key Eligibility Criteria
– Event timing:
The conference must be held between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2033.
– Event duration: Minimum three days.
Participants: Total of at least 50 attendees, including 20 or more overseas participants.
Organiser type: Must be an international organisation or international body.
Thematic relevance: Priority is given to conferences aligned with Osaka’s strategic strengths – life sciences, manufacturing, environment and energy, international finance, sports, gastronomy and entertainment – or, those that clearly contribute to innovation and industrial competitiveness.

By providing financial support to international organisers, the city aims to attract high‑value business events that reinforce strategic sectors, spur technology exchange and boost economic activity.

City officials have made clear that the programme is designed not only to maintain but accelerate Osaka’s global profile following Expo 2025. The grant also aligns with plans for Japan’s first integrated resort – the MGM Osaka – due to open by 2030 next to the Expo site.
