DENTAL researchers and specialists in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the head and face are heading to Yokohama.
A winning bid for the 2029 International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) General Session & Exhibition was secured thanks to a joint effort by the City of Yokohama, Japan National Tourism Organisation, Yokohama City Visitors Bureau and the Pacifico Yokohama hotel and venue complex.
IADR is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the IADR Asia Pacific Regional (APR) Meeting in June 2029 at Pacifico Yokohama. The event makes a return to Japan after 28 years.

About 5,000 on-site participants are expected to attend including 4,750 from outside Japan. An accompanying exhibition is also being planned to feature the latest technologies, hands-on demonstrations and opportunities for business exchange.
Yokohama’s convenient access, its fine record in hosting international conferences and robust support infrastructure were among the attributes credited with helping IADR officials select the Tokyo Bay city for the event.
I am particularly proud that the IADR General Session will be held in Yokohama – a cosmopolitan city with wide international access”
– Prof Satoshi Imazato, IADR Immediate Past President
A spokesperson for Yokohama City Visitors Bureau said the event would bring researchers, industry leaders, and clinicians from across the global dental, oral, and craniofacial research community to the port city.
The decision was also based on the extensive legacy of world-leading dental, oral, and craniofacial research in Japan, and the longstanding activities of the Japanese Association for Dental Research (JADR).

Professor Satoshi Imazato, IADR Immediate Past President, said the association is the world’s largest dental, oral, and craniofacial research organisation. He said the organisation’s Japanese division has long had the second-largest membership after that of the United States.
“I hope to lead a successful conference in Yokohama while also strengthening the spirit of collaboration between Japan and the global research community, further enhancing the international status of Japanese dental researchers.”
