MALAYSIA’S largest exhibition centre is making a strategic move to expand its conference and meeting facilities.
Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (MITEC) will add two more rooms at Level 1A of the 45,000 sqm event facility to provide theatre and banquet-style seating with the work expected to be completed by September.
The theatre-style arrangement is planned to host up to 1,200 people and the banquet seating up to 650. In a slightly smaller set-up, the other room would accommodate up to 400 for theatre style and 240 for banquets with the rooms having the flexibility to be used as smaller exhibition spaces closer to other conference rooms.
“It makes perfect sense for us to leverage on our current capacity and abilities to further expand our meetings and conferences business,” said Gunther Beissel, chief executive officer of MITEC.
The centre in Kuala Lumpur’s international trade and exhibition district has hosted more than 180 business events since opening in August 2017 and is the third largest in Southeast Asia.
“As a premier venue business partner, MITEC’s facilities are continuously upgraded to stay ahead of its market demand through offering higher value customised client solutions and in-house expertise,” Beissel said.
Upon completion of the new meeting spaces, the centre will encompass 11 exhibitions halls, one ballroom, 13 meetings rooms, two outdoor amphitheatres and the two new multipurpose rooms.
