HONG KONG The Peninsula Hong Kong has master classes that teach about the finer things in life. Known as The Lifestyle Academy, it is a series of programmes aimed at imparting qualities intrinsic to a refined life: etiquette, gourmet connoisseurship, aesthetic sensibility and sporting skills.
"We created The Lifestyle Academy to give guests the opportunities to experience a level of fun and insightful learning that will enable them to look, live and feel their absolute best," said hotel general manager Rainy Chan. "Our programmes are designed to give them a fresh new take on their individual style in ways they may never have even thought possible."
These lifestyle master classes are geared for premium guests, but can also be booked for exclusive groups of VIPs numbering no more than four or six people, depending on the programme selected.
Below are a few of the programmes being offered:
The Style Academy offers in-depth style consultations with professionals in the field and a one-of-a-kind VIP shopping experience (both in The Penisula arcade and beyond) with a luxury Rolls-Royce Extended Wheelbase Phantom limousin on your beck and call. The customised service includes private collection viewings, access to limited edition pieces and in-store VIP incentives. A half-day or a full-day session can be arranged. Optional services include a grooming master class on make up and hair styling.
Floral Design Workshops are being offered by the hotel's resident florist from an introductory how-to class on how to assemble floral arrangements to a session about inspirational tablescapes, which teaches how to create a scene-stealing table setting with the right choice of flowers, candles, accessories and decorative vases.
The Pro-Golf Academy has a golf master class where participants receive an exclusive "MAT-T Fitting Session", reserved for hotel guests at the TaylorMade Performance Lab to assess a golfer's handicap and improve it, while the TaylorMade resident gold pro gives a unique experience of fitting participants with their own customised golf clubs. Also, a fly and putt service is available upon request where partipants take off a helicopter from the hotel's helipad for a round of golf, together with a personal coach, at Kau Sai Chau, Hong Kong's most scenic golf course located in Sai Kung.
Hotel guests are required to book The Peninsula Lifestyle Academy classes before their arrival in Hong Kong, with at least 48 hours advance notice. For some programmes such as The Style Academy and the Pro-Golf fly and putt classes, advance booking of five days and seven days respectively is advised.
All activities are conducted in English and Mandarin Chinese. An interpreter can be arranged at an additional cost depending on the language requirements.
