MACAU The Four Seasons Macau management last week showed event planners that it is possible to stage activities on their swimming pool without getting wet.
In a dressy evening affair, dubbed “Walk On Water”, they unveiled the latest addition to their meetings hardware menu. A shallow pool – one of five the hotel, discretely located along the Cotai Strip, boasts of – provided the showcase for the latest Jaguar model, Jaguar XJ. Holding up the ice-white vehicle were 98 pieces of acrylic pieces that took 10 persons to assemble within eight hours.

Not only that, the pool had to be drained, steel frames set up to support the transparent pieces, the pieces put in to form one flat surface and the water pumped in again. In total, the facility is unavailable for guest use for three days.
“We wanted to offer people something different and give them another option than just using the ballroom,” Julius Santos, the hotel’s director of marketing, told Mix. He cited certain months of the year, particularly from September to November, when Macau’s weather is pleasantly cool and ideal for alfresco occasions. "Having this feature expands our offerings," said Santos, who lobbied long and hard with Four Seasons Macau's owners to acquire the new technology, which was provided by Staging Concepts out of Minneapolis.
Santos saw events in the US being spiced up by the innovation, and was drawn to it. "I've even seen cars in the middle of lakes," he recalled.
The basic rate is HK$98,000 (US$12,624), which includes renting the pool and the set up. Other charges for F&B and entertainment follow.
