WE’RE in the home straight as the Snake gives way to the Firehorse. So MIX – Asia’s Voice for Business Events – wishes our readers and supporters a happy, prosperous Lunar New Year.
If you were at AIME 2026 this week you would have sensed a vibe from the show floor in Melbourne that business is galloping back. People are preparing for challenges from what has become an AI frenzy, the torment of tariff tremors and more. Thankfully this is counterbalanced by the talented creatives and human ingenuity that abound in the conference and events industry.

This renewed confidence and more was on display at AIME in Melbourne – a show that kicks off the business events conference and trade show calendar each year. Among the pavilions that stood out at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre this week was that of Hong Kong’s in all its glory.
Well done to the suppliers and representatives from Hong Kong Tourism Board who made their presence felt at the show. It was not only the fabulous rice noodles, har gao and pork buns on offer at the Hosted Buyer Lounge that delegates appreciated, but the message of Hong Kong as the World’s Meeting Place and Asia’s World City is once again giving the global business events industry a renewed appetite for the Greater Bay Area.
While Hong Kong is certainly a stable for business events whether trade shows, corporate conferences or incentives, destinations across Asia Pacific are more than holding their own. I’m told that the current White House administration is doing itself no favours with trade disruptions and a callous attitude to international conference delegates arriving on their shores.
When there’s crisis, that means an opportunity as destinations in Asia increasingly realise the positive social impact and smoother business dealings that arise through face-to-face meetings and destination experiences.
Saddle up and organise those meetings! And remember, MIX is here through 2026 to align with and support your brands, destinations and venues.
Kung Hei Fat Choi!
