TOKYO’s latest convention centre opened this week in the heart of the capital to offer event organisers a cutting-edge venue directly above one of the city’s busiest transport hubs.
Management at Takanawa Gateway Convention Centre, located within the newly developed Takanawa Gateway complex, are now accepting bookings for conferences, exhibitions, and other business events.

Developed by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) in partnership with Congrès Inc, the whole complex is integrated with Takanawa Gateway Station, making it one of the most accessible venues in the capital.
The building also has restaurants, studios, pop-up stores, galleries and more below the convention facilities
Linkpillar Hall, the centrepiece of the facility, can host 2,000 attendees and is equipped with technology such as high-resolution projectors and advanced communication infrastructure for real-time image and audio transmission.
The venue is also designed with sustainability at its core. It has achieved LEED Gold pre-certification for Building Design and Construction: Core and Shell Development, and features East Japan Railway’s first in-building biogas generation system, which converts leftover food into energy.
Organisers looking to host environmentally responsible events will find strong support here, say the venue’s management team, with a range of initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable practices.
More… How Tokyo is Enhancing its Event Appeal
Takanawa Gateway City is envisioned as a dynamic urban space in a prime location where public plazas and advertising media can be repurposed to extend the reach of events beyond the convention centre.
The unique integration allows the entire complex to function as a flexible, open-air venue that the owners consider ideal for international gatherings and large-scale activations.
