Ayana Bali to build convention centre

Standalone facility on island’s largest resort will add to existing event space and aimed at enhancing Bali’s appeal to international conference and incentive organisers

CONSTRUCTION of a convention centre in Bali is set to get underway in April as luxury resorts on the Indonesian island promote their business event offerings to markets across Southeast Asia and globally.

Ayana Bali general manager, Giordano Faggioli, said the new facility would increase the 90-hectare resort’s services to conference and incentive organisers while enhancing Bali’s appeal as an events destination.

Upgrades will also be made to the venue housing the existing Ayana Ballroom

Several villas will be demolished to make way for the standalone convention centre while upgrades will made to event space serving the existing venue housing the 846 square metre Ayana Ballroom, which will also be renovated.

The new convention centre will feature a ballroom equipped with some of the latest audiovisual technology and with standing room for 2,000 people.

“The development of the new convention centre will begin with the construction of a state-of-the-art ballroom, slated to commence in April 2025, and expected to be completed by June 2026,” Faggioli told MIX.

“Subsequent phases of development will focus on the key facilities within the convention centre, with each area being pgpressively developed to meet specific needs. This phased approach will ensure the timely, efficient and realness delivery of every component of the project.”

The convention centre project at Ayana Resort follows new event spaces catering for cultural interests in addition to business and leisure groups. The SAKA Museum  officially opened in 2024 as a showcase for Balinese heritage and culture, while the After Rock building provides lounge and entertainment venues complementing the resort’s iconic Rock Bar out on the cliffs overlooking Jimbaran Bay.

Business event projects at other resorts on the island include recently completed renovation work Bali International Convention Center, next to the Westin Resort Nusa Dua. LED screens have been added to both sides of the stage at Mangupura Hall along with new lighting systems to other venues at the centre.
