On October 21st, the Singapore Experience Awards recognised 27 organisations and individuals who have taken strides to elevate Singapore's status as a world-class events destination. Since 2009, the awards have celebrated the achievements of Singapore's tourism industry including areas such as MICE, business travel, education, entertainment, healthcare and hospitality among others. Held at the Raffles City Convention Centre in conjunction with the Singapore Tourism Board's TravelRave programme, the awards was attended by the Minister for Trade and Industry S Iswaran and STB Chief Executive Lionel Yeo.
This year's Business Experience winners were: MCI Group Asia Pacific for Assocation Conference Organiser of the Year; Kingsmen Exhibits for Business Event Service Provider of the Year; Marina Bay Sands & ParkRoyal on Pickering for Business Event Venue of the Year; HRM Asia for Exhibition Organiser of the Year; Tour East Singapore for Meeting/Incentive Organiser of the Year and SingEx Exhibition Ventures for Trade Conference Organiser of the Year. Former president of the Intelligent Transport Society of Singapore Sing Mong Kee was awarded Best Business Event Champion for securing a bid to host the Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress 2019, which is expected to attract 5,000 delegates and generate S$11 million (US$8m) in revenue.
