MALDIVES Subsix, the world's first underwater music club, located at Niyama Resort – about 40 minutes by seaplane from Malé – is now open.
The trendy club sits below another unique venue called Edge, the resort's out-at-sea restaurant built some 500 metres offshore, and can only be reached by boat.
The club features floor-to-ceiling windows that boast breathtaking views of exotic marine life in their natural habitat. Guests can sit back on cosy leather sofas and enjoy a drink or two from Subsix’s extensive selection of drinks, from freshly squeezed juice and smoothies, to beer, wine and cocktails, to tea and coffee.
Event planners keen to deliver this extraordinary under-the-sea experience can book the club for either morning or evening functions. Subsix can hold a group of 30 for a sit down event and 40 for a cocktail reception. Food and beverage can be tailor-made to the organiser’s specifications. Meeting equipment such as projectors and screens are provided on request.
Meanwhile, companies can also choose to hold their brainstorming sessions on land at the resort’s meeting room, which has a capacity for 25 to 30 people in a boardroom set up. It is equipped with wifi, a 50-inch LDC TV, teleconferencing facilities and a Bose sound system.
