China’s Zhongmei Healthcare Group sent 8,000 of its employees on an incentive trip to South Korea, with delegates treated to the biggest dinner of its kind in Seoul’s history.
The Seoul Tourism Organisation and Seoul Metropolitan Government helped organise the nine-day visit, from May 5 to 13, with the employees taking in cultural activities and tourist sites, including Dongdaemun Gate, Namsan Mountain and Gyeongbok Palace.
The group was split into two, with the first 4,000 delegates treated to a dinner at Banpo Hangang Park on May 6, and the second 4,000 on May 10. Korean local delicacies, including sweet hotdogs, rice cakes and steaks, were available prior to the meal, which involved 200 part-time staff serving 400 tables at each sitting.
The dinner included Samgyetang ginseng chicken soup, popular locally and made famous by the Korean television series “Descendants of the Sun”. Entertainment included a concert by K.Will and Gummy, who feature on the drama’s soundtrack, face painting, costume photo opportunities, and traditional games.
Zhongmei Healthcare Group president Wu Jun Qi said there were many similarities between South Korean and Chinese cultures and that was one of the reasons for choosing Seoul for the incentive. “We hope that our visit can help promote cultural and economic co-operation between the two countries,” he added.
