A newly formed consultancy will reveal the results of the latest research into China’s meetings, incentives and events industry at CIBTM Beijing.
MICE Knowledge, which has been set up in London by academic Rob Davidson, will publish two sets of research: one on Chinese meeting planners and the other on meeting venues in China.
Davidson, who carried out research for CIBTM last year, is leaving his position as senior lecturer in events management at the University of Greenwich, London, to focus on the consultancy and meet a gap in the market for industry data.
After combining teaching with research into the meetings industry for the past few years, he found that requests for consultancy services were making more demands on his time.
“At CIBTM in September I will be launching the results of two surveys: one into the choices of Chinese meetings planners, showing their preferences in terms of the venues and destinations they select for their events; and a survey of Chinese venues, showing how they find clients and how they have performed this year,” Davidson told Mix.
Davidson has been lecturing in business tourism and events for the past 16 years and was at Greenwich for more than three years. He has recently completed a report on incentive opportunities in Ireland for the country’s tourism board and is a visiting professor at six European universities.
