Malaysian state on Borneo vows to become country’s business event legacy capital as forum preview also unveils AI tool for planners, international awards and revitalised Tribe Legacy Sarawak campaign

SARAWAK is taking its commitment to enabling conference and incentive organisers to help the community and environment with Southeast Asia’s first homegrown forum dedicated to business event legacy.

LEGACY360 will feature an awards event

LEGACY360 is planned for September as a focal point for BESarawak’s mission to integrate meaningful legacies into Malaysia’s business events. 

The event will also act on Sarawak’s vision to be the “legacy capital of business events” in Malaysia and Borneo by 2030.  

A preview, held this week a panel session on Business Events for a Sustainable Future with the deputy chairman of BESarawak, Hii Chang Kee, chief executive Amelia Roziman, president of Maceos – Malaysia’s business event suppliers association – M Ghandi, and senior manger at consultancy Gaining Edge, Jane Vong-Holmes.

  • AI.LEGACY Intelligent Impact Management System: Billed as the world’s first system for monitoring, measuring, and reporting business event legacies. AI.LEGACY leverages cutting-edge artificial intelligence and offers a game-changing approach to legacy management. Event planners can use the guide to help create  and measurable outcomes. The system is a partnership between BESarawak and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.
  • Borneo Inspires Legacies Awards (BILA): the Anak Sarawak Awards has evolved into BILA, which is aimed at inspiring people across the world to contribute towards building resilient legacies.
  • Tribe Legacy Sarawak campaign 2025: BESarawak introduced the “Driving Impact Together” campaign pledge. With the introduction of LEGACY360, AI LEGACY and Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards, an initiative called “I Am Legacy” to celebrate the power of individual actions and small-scale impacts to drive significant change was unveiled.

“As we move towards becoming the legacy capital of business events in Malaysia and Borneo, LEGACY360 is a vital platform. Our vision is to position LEGACY360 as a globally recognised event,” Sarawak Premier Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Openg said in a message delivered by state tourism minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The two-day forum in September will feature interactive workshops and talks with the Borneo Inspires Legacy Awards among the highlights.

After many years in our legacy journey, what began as a vision to define and shape the impact of business events, has now evolved into a groundbreaking reality.
