A special guest dropped by as Australian meetings and event planners enjoyed dinner at the Venetian Macao. It was none other than soccer legend David Beckham, who is a brand ambassador for the Cotai Strip property.
Sands Resorts Macao recently hosted the group for a four-day MICE familiarisation that showed the wide range of hotels, meeting spaces and attractions across the integrated resorts.
The highlight of the event was when former Manchester United and England hero Beckham strode into a private dinner held under the stars set against the backdrop of The Parisian Macao’s Eiffel Tower.
As brand ambassador for the Venetian Macao, Beckham often visits the territory and was happy to drop to say hello to the planners and chat as he posed for photos with each of them.
The familiarisation itinerary – co-hosted by Cathay Pacific – included Portuguese culinary experiences, walking tours of Old Taipa Village and site inspections of the Venetian, the Parisian Macao, Conrad Macao, Holiday Inn Macao Cotai Central, Sheraton Grand Macao and St Regis Macao hotels. The group also enjoyed tours to learn more about Macau’s Sino-Portuguese heritage.
Attendees included Joe Wojcik, of 212F; Sarah Cobb, DCIM; Anne Gray, Impact Events; Rosie Lanneli, The Appointment Group; Lynda Tremellen, Events Beyond; Catherine Squire, Australasian Convenience & Petrol Store Owners Association; Tracey Taylor, Master Electricians; Linda Millard, Corporate Blue; Binh Nguyen, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons; Samantha Ford, Baker & McKenzie; Danielle Riley, Destination Event Management, and Nick Maynard, of Maui Jim Sunglasses.
