Following the close of Dreamtime 2015, the Gold Coast Business Events team showcased local highlights to a group of Chinese buyers and media, focusing on the region’s wineries, cuisine and outdoor attractions.
Among the activities on offer was an experience at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat featuring zip lining, visits to glow worm caves and bonfires as well as a picnic lunch at Canungra Winery and visit to the home of skincare range Jasmin Organics.
Delegates were also taken to Pacific Fair shopping Centre and Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre for their retail therapy fill. Transfers to exclusive spots such as Moreton Island and other wilderness destinations were facilitated by helicopter, hummer, fire trucks and duffy boats, showcasing the unique transport options on offer for incentive planners.
A lakeside dinner was put on at The Arts Centre Gold Coast, featuring food trucks that served local cuisine and entertainment from stilt walkers, fire breathers, acrobats and local singer and entertainer Rhydian Lewis.
Gold Coast Business Events Director Anna Case said that the programme would give an insight to elements that are distinctly Gold Coast.
“To win the opportunity to host this group, we had to demonstrate that the Gold Coast has a world class offering. These corporate meetings typically are offered as an incentive to drive performance of employees in Chinese corporations so they are seeking dream destinations that will inspire achievement,” said Case.
“The Post Dreamtime Education offered an insight into just how well the Gold Coast can deliver an exclusive and memorable incentive program that will leave their employees motivated to achieve,” she added.
The Gold Coast currently has a number of developments underway including a A$1 billion beachside residential and hotel development. Also set to open is The Broadbeach Terrace, a permanent outdoor deck and events space that will be able to hold 500. A 1,000-seat conference centre at Sea World Resort recently opened in June 2015 to accompany the resort's 400 guest rooms. Plans to redevelop Gold Coast Airport will begin in 2016, in time for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games which expects to attract more than 126,000 visitors.
