Greener IMPACT with Thailand first

IMPACT Exhibition Management has become the first venue operator in Thailand to achieve the latest ISO 20121:2024 certification, setting a new standard for sustainable event management across the region.

The landmark recognition covers all five of IMPACT’s core event types – weddings, parties, exhibitions, meetings, and concerts –making it the only venue in the country to be certified across such a broad spectrum.

“IMPACT is the first venue in Thailand to achieve certification across all five categories,” said Paul Kanjanapas, CEO of Bangkok Land, the parent company of IMPACT and developer of the nearby Muang Thong Thani residential complex.

“Sustainability is not just a policy for us – it is embedded in our daily operations and future vision. We continue to drive sustainable practices forward and encourage customers to host their events responsibly.”
– Paul Kanjanapas, CEO of Bangkok Land

“Our commitment remains unwavering and is abided by the ESG principles – environmental, social, and governance.”

The certification under ISO 20121:2024, the globally recognised Event Sustainability Management Systems standard, underscores IMPACT’s growing influence as a regional leader in hosting events with high sustainable practices.

A spokesperson for IMPACT said the venue, which hosts over 1,000 events annually, had steadily built its sustainability credentials, including the launch of its “Green Meeting Package” in late 2022. The initiative has already seen 98 environmentally conscious events – exceeding its initial target of 91 – and accounted for nearly 10 per cent of all MICE-related events at the centre.

IMPACT’s sustainability drive was rooted in its “community ethos”, said Kanjanapas.

With over 1,300 full-time and nearly 400 part-time staff – many of whom live in Muang Thong Thani residential development – Kanjanapas said the centre had cultivated strong links with its neighbourhood. From baristas and cooks to interpreters and venue coordinators, he said the workforce reflected a diverse and inclusive hiring strategy that prioritises local talent.

Beyond its green credentials, IMPACT was also embracing smart-city models to enhance local vibrancy and foot traffic, reinforcing its role not just as a venue, but as a community anchor.
