TOKYO is getting ready to be an open shop for 4,000-plus retailers and other participants after securing APRICE – the 22nd Asia-Pacific Retailers Convention and Exhibition.
APRICE is held every two years and is billed Asia’s foremost and longest-running retail convention and exhibition.
Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau (TCVB) said the deciding factors in the winning bid for the 2026 event were the enthusiastic exchanges between the Japan Retailers Association the Federation of Asia-Pacific Retailers Associations (FAPRA).

More than 4,000 participants, including 1,500 overseas specialists from 18-plus countries and regions are expected at Tokyo International Forum, the city’s flagship venue, from October 7-9, 2026.
TCVB played a significant role in support of APRCE in Japan’s bid proposal preparation. A generous subsidy from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to provide financial and in-kind support for APRCE 2026 was also essential in the selection, the bureau said.
APRICE returns to Tokyo after 19 years, having previously been held twice in Tokyo, in 1983 and 2007. Japan Retailers Association and FAPRA are organising the 2026 event.
