PRESS RELEASE
An Artistic Afternoon Tea Filled with Presents by Perrier-Jouët at The Langham, Hong Kong
Introducing an “Origami Afternoon Tea Party” with gifts, including tickets to the House of Perrier-Jouët, France
(Hong Kong, 4 December 2015) – The Langham, Hong Kong and renowned Champagne house of Perrier-Jouët introduces an exclusive “Origami Afternoon Tea Party”. Available at the hotel’s Palm Court lobby lounge, an artistic afternoon tea campaign will offer gifts to celebrate the holidays and usher in the New Year with an added dose of sophistication and refinement.
Launching the joint promotion, an evergreen Christmas tree takes centre stage of Palm Court and decorated in origami artistry where guests have the opportunity to recreate the craftsmanship, as well as win prizes. The origami blossoms on display are inspired after the Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque vintage designer bottle and patrons who purchase the Champagne during afternoon tea will be invited to participate and enter a lucky draw. Award-wining origami artist Kade Chan, who is known for receiving the prestigious Éric Joisel Award in 2012, created the origami art pieces and will conduct exclusive workshops hosted every Saturday starting 12 December 2015 until 16 January 2016.
Lucky draw winners will be announced at each Saturday session at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Prizes include exclusive Champagne flutes and scented candles, as well as a chance to win a two-day pass for two people to The Maison Belle Epoque in France, the former home of the Perrier family. The winner will also receive a VIP visit to the cellars and private tasting of the Perrier-Jouët range. Considered as one of the largest private art collections in the world, a trip to the Champagne house is a once in a lifetime experience to witness beauty and poetry of up to 200 Art Nouveau masterpieces, from Majorelle and Guimard, to Lalique and Rodin.
The Perrier-Jouët bottle is adorned with Japanese anemones first created in 1902 by master glass artist and Art Nouveau pioneer Emile Gallé. Drawing inspiration from this, Kade has designed a white and green origami flower for Perrier-Jouët and pink for The Langham, Hong Kong to represent both brands exceptional dedication to artistic gastronomy.
Since its founder Pierre-Nicolas-Marie produced the first hand-crafted vintage in 1811, Perrier-Jouët has been at the height of fashion for society’s elite, and the ultimate symbol of luxury and pleasure. Aligning with the brand’s spirit, the “Origami Afternoon Tea Party” denotes a vision of artistic gastronomy incorporating “beauty” and “dining”. The sensory journey is to enjoy haute cuisine and fine Champagne as an aesthetic pleasure.
Renovated just last year, the glamorous Palm Court is famous for its elegant finish and serves as a dramatic backdrop to the lobby, as well as being an institution for the quintessential English afternoon tea experience. The intrinsic charm, vitality and elegance of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut perfectly pairs with Executive Chef Pedro Samper’s selection of baked to perfection pastries and cakes, as well as savoury delicacies, all served on the hotel’s signature “Langham Rose” Wedgwood tea ware.
Afternoon Tea is served on weekdays from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m., and on weekends and public holidays in two sittings, from 2:15 to 4:15 p.m., and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Wedgwood Deluxe Afternoon Tea is priced at HK$458 per person and HK$758 for two persons, including a glass of Perrier-Jouët, NV, Brut Champagne, and the Ladurée Afternoon Tea by Langham is priced at HK$298 per person and HK$538 for two persons. All subject to 10% service charge.
The exclusive “Origami Afternoon Tea Party” workshop and lucky draw is available to afternoon tea guests purchasing Perrier-Jouët by the glass or bottle every Saturday starting on 12 December 2015 until 16 January 2016, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Palm Court.
