IHG to open Australia's sixth InterContinental in Perth
A new InterContinental will launch near Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre

1 Dec 2014

Situated within reach of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC), Perth will welcome Australia’s sixth InterContinental property in 2017. Currently home to the Rydges Hotel, management will change hands from UNIR Hotels to IHG, offering 240 renovated rooms and a variety of function spaces.

Aside from its proximity to the PCEC, the new InterContinental is close to His Majesty’s Theatre and Perth Arena, and easily accessed by the city’s central shopping and dining centre.

The new hotel will offer meeting facilities including a business centre, boardroom and intimate meeting rooms. A bar-and-restaurant concept will be developed, and will offer diners options gleaned from Western Australia’s renowned produce.

“The signing of InterContinental Perth is pivotal to IHG’s expansion plans in Australasia. This hotel will be one where comfort is balanced with sophistication, and elegance does not interfere with practicality.” said Karin Sheppard, incoming Chief Operating Officer for Australasia and Japan IHG.

IHG operates 66 hotels within the Asia, Middle East and Africa region, with 23 under development.
